Student Volunteers

General Volunteers

We believe in the power of mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing meaningful medical career exposure to students. Our volunteer program supports pre-health students by giving them the guidance, skills, and resources needed to become strong candidates for graduate and doctoral-level healthcare programs.

Vida is dedicated to helping students build a pathway into healthcare especially those who aspire to return to underserved communities and address critical healthcare shortages. Throughout the volunteer opportunities, students gain firsthand experience with the social determinants of health and learn how barriers to care can impact individual health outcomes.

In addition to clinical exposure, volunteers receive support with personal statements, mock interviews, and professional networking. Students who complete the required number of volunteer hours are also eligible to apply for our linkage programs with MBKU and Touro University’s PA Program. Volunteer Interest Form

Medical Assistants

As a volunteer medical assistant, you will be seeing patients from underserved populations, including unhoused or uninsured individuals. Basic duties include rooming and checking patient vitals, assisting the provider with the visit, and obtaining patient history.

Outreach and Communications

As an outreach volunteer, you will attend health and resource fairs, canvas at local areas, and share Vida’s mission with the community to find more patients in need of care.

Fundraising

As a fundraising volunteer, your duties will include organizing fundraisers, planning an online campaign for Giving Tuesday, and keeping our other volunteers and staff informed about upcoming fundraisers.

Public Health & Education

As a public health volunteer, you will be developing educational material to teach communities about the importance of healthcare and wellness. You will also be working to increase diversity in healthcare by teaching others about different careers in the field.

Health Administration

As a health administration volunteer, you will schedule appointments, coordinate visits, and obtain patient records. You will assist in checking in patients and ensuring that all information is available for providers.
