Pre-Health Programs
Empowering Future Healthcare Leaders
Since opening in May 2020, our clinic has provided shadowing and volunteer opportunities to hundreds of pre-health students, giving them hands-on exposure to community-based primary care.
Originally focused on the Physician Assistant (PA) pathway, our programs evolved during the pandemic to include virtual formats and broader pre-health opportunities, including pre-med, pre-nursing, pre-veterinary and pre-public health.

Alumni from our programs have gone on to pursue graduate or professional programs at ATSU, CDU, Drexel University, Johns Hopkins University, KGI, Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health, Samuel Merritt University, Stanford University, Texas Lutheran University, Touro University, UCI, UCLA, USC, and West Coast University.

Our History
2023-2024
Pre-Health Career Enrichment Program and Pre-health Career Workshops
In 2023, we launched a $1.3 million Pre-Health Career Enrichment Program serving seven cohorts of 13–14 students each from under-resourced backgrounds. 88 Students completed the program.
This 8-week program featured:

Volunteer opportunities
We also hosted 3 workshops focused on career paths for students interested in becoming physicians, nurses, and PAs.
2025
The Shadowing Experience Program
and Pre-health Careers Workshops
In 2025, Vida received a grant from HCAI to launch a shadowing program. 50 students will have completed the program by the end of this year.
Participants gain hands-on skills and shadow healthcare providers serving older adults and underserved populations.
HCAI also granted Vida a grant to host pre-health career workshops. We hosted 5 workshops focused on careers as physcians, PA, nursing, and general pre-health.
2020
​Thanks to USC's PA club, Vida was able to host a pre-pa workshop for students interested in the physician assistant profession.
